"Laughter should be an entitlement, not a privilege. In the wealthiest country in the world, humor should not just be for the millionaires and billionaires. 'SAVING BERNIE' is just silly. And we all need silly right now." - Linda Chorney

TUCSON, AZ (March 16, 2020) - Acting upon her belief that "laughter should be an entitlement, not a privilege" in this time of global crisis, the creator of SAVING BERNIE - the new madcap web series positioning Sen. Bernie Sanders for a higher calling post-Presidential bid - is now offering "Free Silly-Care for All," a FREE episode for download enabling any viewer, whether they can afford it or not, the ability to "hunker down with humor" as the first season premieres on Vimeo.

"In the wealthiest country in the world, humor should not just be for the millionaires and billionaires," says writer-director Linda Chorney, the Grammy-nominated indie singer-songwriter and award-winning filmmaker who takes viewers - and her little Bernie Sanders doll - on an insane globe-trotting mission, from Asia to Antarctica to swimming the English Channel to hopping a cruise ship home as the series unfolds. "I'm hoping to do my part by sharing what I hope is a fun, laughable experience, because that's what we need now. SAVING BERNIE is just silly. And we all need silly right now."

Chorney also is encouraging more artists to go online and live stream their art, bringing it to a public that is currently unable to enjoy it in a live setting.

The irreverent 10-part Vimeo series, which will do nothing less than inexorably alter the course of American history, was filmed on five continents to create a political-comedy-travel-adventure series the writer-director describes as "Pee Wee Herman meets Austin Powers, Indiana Jones, The Three Stooges and Mel Brooks."

Sen. Bernie Sanders' bid for the Democratic Presidential nomination may be sliding swiftly, but SAVING BERNIE, the title of a new madcap comedy series now premiering on Vimeo, positions the free-falling candidate for a higher calling, campaign results and pandemic fears be damned.

Admit it. You kind of wondered just how Sanders recovered so quickly from what was described last year as a "heart attack." Well, so did Chorney. And that irrepressible inquisitiveness led to SAVING BERNIE.

"I created this series knowing Bernie was a long-shot for the nomination," says Chorney, whose reel-life cult classic indie film, When I Sing, has won 11 film festival awards in the past three years. "So even if he doesn't win, we need his message to win: That every American should have healthcare, that every American should have a good education, and that we should preserve our planet for future generations."

SAVING BERNIE imagines what really happened when Sanders was off the grid during his heart attack recovery. In SAVING BERNIE, Sanders was kidnapped and shrunken to toy size by a mad Russian scientist. But who's behind the diabolical plot? It's up to the fearless "sorta secret agent" singer-songwriter to find out, defeat the bad guys, "save Bernie," and get him to use her song in his 2020 presidential bid. Follow Chorney and Sanders together on their ridiculous journey as they get chased around the world, trying to get back home to save the planet!

Chorney immersed herself in SAVING BERNIE to save herself from the insanity of the current Administration. Now that the insanity has mushroomed as part of a worldwide pandemic, Chorney is contributing to the healing through laughter with the free SAVING BERNIE episode.

By streaming her art - and encouraging other artists to do the same - Chorney hopes creative types can pull together to make these difficult times go down just a little bit easier.

"Or at least," she says, "we can die laughing."

Chorney immersed herself in SAVING BERNIE to save herself from the insanity of the current Administration. Politics aside, Chorney has quite a bit of affection for Sanders as a character as well.

"He's hilarious," she says. "He reminds me of my grandfather. I believe him and his message, and I respect his principles. He can't be bought. I see a bit of myself in Bernie because he tells it like it is, even if it ruffles a few feathers. I love Bernie. I love that he's a fighter. I love that he doesn't care if what he's saying isn't popular with the mainstream. And the best part, is that he reminds me of Larry David. And I see myself in Larry David, too. We're both annoying, but I'm a much better singer."

It should not be surprising to discover Sanders and Chorney prove to be quite the dynamic duo in their SAVING BERNIE travels.

"Bernie's a great travel partner," says Chorney. "He doesn't eat much. We both like dumplings. And what's really fun is how people react to the Bernie doll. Kids are especially enamored."

There was the time she was filming on a flight from Japan when child came up to her, grabbed the doll and ran off with it. In Cambodia, a child threw a tantrum to try to get Chorney to give up the Bernie doll, which she regrettably could not hand over.

"SAVING BERNIE is just silly," says Chorney. "And we all need silly right now."
