Medicare Decoded: Shocking Facts to Help You Save Money and Get the Most from Medicare, updated for COVID-19

The Medicare Minefield, with Rick Solofsky, airs weekly on 610 ESPN/Philadelphia and News Radio 790 WAEB/Lehigh Valley

"Medicare is a minefield, and you'd better be careful where you step." - Rick Solofsky

EASTON, PA (June 9, 2020) - Medical insurance and Medicare expert Rick Solofsky is mad as hell and can't take it anymore. That's why, with the breakout of the Coronavirus pandemic, he decided to simultaneously write a book and launch two radio shows to help people navigate their way through the medical insurance portion of our nationwide health crisis in this new COVID-19 universe.

The book, Medicare Decoded: Shocking Facts to Help You Save Money and Get the Most From Medicare, initially published as the Coronavirus Quarantine mandate was about to hit, has just been updated for COVID-19.

The radio show, The Medicare Minefield with Rick Solofsky, covering medical insurance and Medicare, airs Saturdays at 11 a.m. on 610 ESPN Philadelphia. Lehigh Valley listeners get to hear a completely fresh live version of The Medicare Minefield with Rick Solofsky every Sunday from 9 a.m.-10 a.m. on News Radio 790 WAEB iHeartRadio. Both versions of the show feature guest experts and live listener call-ins. All episodes of the 610 ESPN edition are podcast here. For 610 ESPN callers: 888-728-9941. For 790 WAEB callers: 610-720-7900.

"There are so many CPAs, attorneys and insurance brokers not properly guiding their clients in the right direction, and that means enormous pitfalls if you're not paying attention to details," says Solofsky, head of Solofsky Financial Group with over 30 years of experience as a health-care broker and a high-level consultant with a specialty in Medicare. "The average broker, employer, or CPA doesn't really understand the rules and the laws because it's too nitty gritty to them. There are too many ticking bombs."

Medicare Decoded, available now on Amazon, offers what Solofsky, a Montgomery County native now living in Easton, calls a "Financial Medical Insurance Vaccine Solution" aimed at the senior population, a significant portion of which has been affected by COVID-19. However, whether you're a Millennial looking to the future, a Baby Boomer enrolling for the first time, or a member of the "Greatest Generation" who is already a Medicare beneficiary, Medicare Decoded is an essential, easy-to-read guide that takes people through the twists and turns of Medicare with essential strategies.

In the midst of this pandemic, Solofsky offers expert advice on a variety of Medicare and health insurance concerns and issues pertaining to this particular health crisis, including:

  • If you lose your job, what are your real options for Cobra health insurance extensions?
  • What other options does the government offer if you can't afford Cobra? Is there a plan that's actually better?
  • Should you apply for Medicare as you're turning 65?
  • How can helping your parents with their Medicare decisions impact your bank account?
  • When should you apply for Medicare instead of staying on your employer's group plan, or vice versa?
  • Do you really understand Medicare Part D prescription plans?
  • Can you disenroll from Medicare if you go back to work?
  • Does the government owe you money because you applied for Medicare when you shouldn't have?
  • How can you "turn back the clock" if you miss important Medicare enrollment deadlines?
  • What is the prescription-plan coverage gap known as the "doughnut hole" and how can you manage it?
