We don't just party. We party with a purpose.

"Every once in a while, an outfit comes along and redefines how we think about music and music appreciation, and for Philadelphians, that group is Worldtown SoundSystem."
- Philadelphia Weekly

Started as a party in 2011, Worldtown has evolved into a live seven-piece house music touring band, label, apparel line, record pool, and community service network. WORLDTOWN SOUNDSYSTEM (WTSS) is a high-voltage live house music band fusing electronic dance music culture with global rhythms and a heart of Philly soul. The ensemble has roots in three continents, Europe, Africa, and Latin America, and every WTSS event is reflective of the world's influences in their home base of Philadelphia. Worldtown is more than a band, it's an experience - a celebration of vibes from across the globe.

WTSS is an international collective of musicians, bringing the world to each town with an irresistible festive magnetism. The Philly-grown phenomenon has worked over the past decade to make their presence known in some of Philly's biggest, most prominent venues and organizations such as The Barnes Foundation, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Fillmore, and Union Transfer. Transcending barriers with their outrageous blend of psycho-funk grooves, these world citizens transfer their message of oneness through their high-voltage sonic love waves. Their sound has been described as "live international house music rooted in the soul of Philadelphia." A Worldtown event is unlike any other. Tapping into something universal, WTSS creates an energetic atmosphere of togetherness where love and connection spread like wildfire.

Drawing internationally eclectic crowds with their magnetic flow, WTSS's reach has spanned the East Coast from Vermont to South Carolina. With sold out shows at Johnny Brenda's, Coda and Hotel Monaco's Stratus Lounge, WTSS has organically grown to become a well-known Philly establishment. Rocking the Philadelphia street festival scene and East Coast regional burn parties such as PEX Summerfest and Goombay Festival, WTSS's energy has burned bright for tens of thousands of fans over the years.

The Worldtown Festival has worked to connect Philly artists with businesses of different cultural backgrounds, with the goal of showcasing local talents and fostering creationships. The unique energy and one of a kind live experience will be spreading across the nation, continuing to pull crowds to the dance floor as they grow. With 2 EPs and countless remixes, the phenomenal seven have whirled together a menagerie of music for your auditory senses... and your booty. Over the last decade, the group's sound has dipped and swirled through a staggering range of styles, each song exploring uncharted sonic territory. World-infused groove; bass-fueled breaks; sexified down-tempo; reggae riddims; electric lullabies; and psy-fi funk are just a few of the genres that have poured from the Worldtown's soul into earbuds and speakers across the globe.

For the past two years, the Worldtown crew has been cooking up new music in the studio, forged with fire, blood, sweat and tears of joy. Expect to be taken on a masterfully crafted and evocative journey with their fresh new tracks dropping the second half of 2019. Once hooked, it's impossible to get enough. At Worldtown's core is collaboration - the Worldtown movement is about catalyzing the energy of the WT citizens into community action, creative collaborations and global connections. Worldtown aims to inspire positive social change by bringing awareness to local issues through fundraising and community service. Worldtown has helped locally with urban farming, hosting workshops and teaching students music therapy to name a few - they aim to make real, tangible change, and along the way inspire thousands. They don't just party, they party with a purpose. The multi-national celebration of music and art continues to spread peace, love and fun, everywhere for everyone. Listen for the elevated Worldtown vibrations traveling through your airwaves in 2019. In other words, that party is only just getting started.

"The crew has made a huge noise bringing sounds and rhythms from around the globe to the Philly party scene." - XPN The Key

PHILADELPHIA (Dec. 20, 2019) - Philly's body-moving house collective WORLDTOWN SOUNDSYSTEM (WTSS), the out-of-this-world eight-piece band of global musicians that's been raising the bar as creative changemakers since 2011, is exclusively premiering the groundbreaking music video for FREEDOM, from the upcoming album, Surrounded, today exclusively on Billboard.com. The liberating new single and video, shot entirely underwater, are the springboards to launching the group's global clean water campaign, #WorldtownWaves. Watch the FREEDOM music video here.

FREEDOM is now available across all streaming services including Spotify, Apple Music, and Tidal.

Called "a rager" by XPN's The Key, FREEDOM is a tribute to the past, present, and future of the Philly sound, blending Worldtown's signature celebratory electronic grooves with the classic tones and textures of Grammy-winning string arranger Larry Gold (Gamble & Huff, The Roots, Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, Kelly Clarkson, Michael Jackson) and the band's newest member, internationally renowned, award-winning master percussionist Pablo Batista (Alicia Keys, Grover Washington, Kirk Franklin, Eddie Palmieri, Patti LaBelle), behind the powerful lead vocals of Zeek Burse. FREEDOM was written by Burse and the band's musical director/DJ, Ben Arsenal, produced and mixed by Mattias Nilsson and Arsenal, and co-produced by Batista.

Recruiting Larry Gold to write and arrange the strings solidified the bridge to the legendary Sound of Philadelphia (TSOP) that WORLDTOWN SOUNDSYSTEM sought to create not only on FREEDOM, but the entire Surrounded album, the band's deepest dive into the diversity of dance music in its eight-year history. In fact, FREEDOM, due in February, references "I Love Music" by the O'Jays, a TSOP classic featuring MFSB, the house band for which Gold played cello early in his gold- and platinum-lined career.

"To me this sounded like a retro record, and I approached it that way." Gold says of FREEDOM in this "Making of" video. "It reminded me of records I made when I was little."

The #WorldtownWaves campaign partners WORLDTOWN SOUNDSYSTEM with charity: water, the non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries, to raise awareness and funds for clean water around the world through music and dance.

Worldtown's initial goal is to deliver clean water to 1,000 people by raising $30,000. Details on how to accept the #WorldtownWaves Challenge can be found at www.world.town/waves.

"We're activating our community to make positive waves through the #WorldtownWaves Challenge," says Ben Arsenal. "Issues surrounding water are endangering everyone, regardless of where they're from in the world. Being introduced to charity: water's CEO by Worldtown Citizen SiNae Pitts, is an example of the natural progression of Worldtown's magnetic collective mentality."

FREEDOM'S videographer, activist Julia Lehman, had been working on an underwater photo series raising awareness of issues surrounding plastic in our oceans when she met Worldtown. As a creative wavemaker, she felt compelled to use her talent as a photographer/videographer to bring further consciousness to global water issues with the band. Watch this video connecting Lehman's behind-the-scenes underwater work on "The Plastic Project" with the making of the FREEDOM music video. Under the direction of Corin Hunter, Worldtown and cast shot the music video in one day, creating one of the few music videos ever to be entirely shot underwater.

Hunter's idea to shoot FREEDOM entirely underwater was the perfect way to foster a "creationship" between Lehman and Worldtown.

"When I know such talented creatives, who want to use their art for good, I want them to know each other," says Hunter. "Introducing them through collaborations such as this only makes the work that much better and the impact that much stronger."

WORLDTOWN SOUNDSYSTEM is Ben Arsenal (musical director/DJ), Gary Dann (drums), Zeek Burse (vocals), Dan Keller (saxophone), Julian Hinson (bass, vocals) Fawziyya Heart (Vocals), Anessa LaRae (vocals), and its newest member, world renown master percussionist Pablo Batista (Alicia Keys, Grover Washington Jr., Jill Scott, Patti LaBelle), replacing the late Stan "da Man" Hunt. Batista holds the rare distinction of performing on Grammy-winning releases in jazz, R&B and gospel, as well as guesting with the world-famous Philadelphia Orchestra.

WORLDTOWN SOUNDSYSTEM fuses electronic dance music culture with global rhythms and a heart of Philly soul. The ensemble has roots in three continents - Europe, Africa, and Latin America - and every WTSS event is reflective of the world's influences. More than a band, WORLDTOWN SOUNDSYSTEM is an experience - a celebration of vibes from across the globe.

Surrounded is forged with fire, blood, sweat and tears of joy. Expect to be taken on a masterfully crafted and evocative journey - the band's first new tracks in three years and its first full-length album following a pair of EPs and succession of singles across its career. FREEDOM follows Surrounded's sensuous first single, The Frame, which dropped in August.
