RICHARD X. HEYMAN EARNS STREET DATE FOR ACTUAL SIGHS
Critics Rave as Redeye Music Distribution Catches Buzz and Takes Power Pop Hero's Great Lost Debut Album to Stores April 17 Going for Adds at Triple A & College Radio March 26

"Richard is an artist driven by more than the search for a hit - he's someone who's personally obsessed and intimately connected with the power of rock & roll in our lives. Music is more than a career to this guy - it's a lifelong passion" - Rolling Stone

NEW YORK (February 21, 2007) - With critical buzz intensifying during its internet-only availability, Redeye Music Distribution has decided to break precedent to take the new Great Lost Debut Album from power pop pillar RICHARD X. HEYMAN to the streets. ACTUAL SIGHS, the re-recording - and much more - of the New York songsmith's stellar 1986 debut, Actual Size, will be in stores Tuesday, Aug. 17 on Turn-Up Records.

"We've gotten away from distributing one-off artists, but we're making an exception with Richard," says Lori Miller, Redeye marketing manager. "We have a strong history with Richard and we feel confident in his ability to sell records. We're eager to step up and join forces again."

Indeed, ACTUAL SIGHS continues the unwavering consistency with which Heyman has enjoyed critical acclaim throughout his revered 20-year recording career. USA Today, All Music Guide and Trouser Press lead the early charge of those delivering early praise for an album in which Heyman not only re-records and updates the six songs that appeared on the original Actual Size vinyl EP, but adds new recordings of 14 more songs from the same writing sessions. And true to form, the multi-instrumentalist is once again a one-man studio band - albeit with technology considerably superior than the 8-track Tascam machine used on the original.

In his "Listen Up" column, USA Today music editor Ken Barnes says the "popmeister rerecords his excellent first release to fine effect and adds a ton of new songs."

All Music Guide, in a 4-Star review by Mark Deming, calls Heyman "perhaps America's greatest unsung hero of power pop, a songwriter of uncommon talent and intelligence, and a one-man rock band without peer" in declaring ACTUAL SIGHS "a splendid album which belongs in the collection of anyone who cares about great pop music" and, quite simply, "superb."

And, writes Ira Robbins in Trouser Press, the "pop glories" for which Heyman is commonly known "abound here."

With "All in the Way You Found Me" as the focus track, the radio add date at College and Triple A formats is March 26.

Four years in the re-making, ACTUAL SIGHS revisits 20 vintage tracks - one for every year since the original Actual Size was released. Renown rock critic Parke Puterbaugh, in his liner notes, deems the ACTUAL SIGHS story "unlike any other in the annals of popular music, with the possible exception of Brian Wilson's re-recording of the Beach Boys' long-abandoned 'Smile' in 2005."

Produced by Heyman and engineered by his wife and musical muse, Nancy, the tracks on ACTUAL SIGHS were mixed by Heyman's old New Jersey friend Ed Stasium (Ramones, Smithereens, Living Colour, Marshall Crenshaw) and long-time Heyman engineer Tony Lewis, who's mixed the three previous RXH releases, Basic Glee; Heyman, Hoosier and Herman, and Cornerstone.

Make it a point to join RICHARD X. HEYMAN on this unique and undoubtedly rewarding trip back to the future.
